Episode 69: Dare Me
Nothing like pushing a few limits, there...
This episode's song, "Dare Me," was inspired by the work of Susan Storm Large. For folks who've never heard of Storm before, this video should give you some idea where this song is coming from.
One of the challenges attached to ARPEGGIO involves capturing the essence of songs without the benefit of sound, and then wrapping a whole song's worth of lyrics into images that need room to breathe as well. If we were to do a different page for every verse, this strip would take months to get anywhere at all, so Bryan and I try to capture the essence of the song in a single cascade of images and a small excerpt of the lyrics as a whole.
So if you want to understand the reactions of the crowd in this scene (and its payoff in the next episode) imagine Meghan ripping through the entire song below, belted out with the ferocity of Storm Large's "Twisted Jimmy." (And yes, Meghan's a Storm Large fan, too.)
